Garmin Ltd. has signed an agreement with a Denver-based company to provide 3-D topographical information to its navigational devices.

In a release Monday, Intermap Technologies said the three-year agreement involves mapping data for the United States and Western Europe. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Brian Bullock, Intermap’s CEO, said in the release that Garmin plans to use its NEXTMap data in automotive, outdoors and marine products and will begin releasing those products in the first half of the year.

Besides providing a terrain for hikers and other outdoors enthusiasts, the company said, the data will allow Garmin (Nasdaq: GRMN), which operates out of Olathe, to develop elevation-related content and applications.
