Cogent3D, Inc., announces the iTune App store release of GISRoam™, a new iPad and iPhone application that allows the user to load, view, collect, search, edit and save ESRI GIS Shapefiles.
It’s never been easier to have GIS at your fingertips. With Apple iPad’s user-friendly interface and GPS, GISRoam lets you display your shapefile layers on Google Maps and with pending release of version 2.0 other map services.
GISRoam is much more than a way to view your GIS layers. GISRoam includes powerful searching, feature attribution editing, and GPS enhanced creation of new Polygon, Line, and Point features in new or existing Shapefile layers while you roam.
“I’m very excited to have all of my ESRI shapefiles on my iPad and ready for reference and updating when working with our customers, “ said Aaron Hutchinson, President of Cogent3D, “This convenience alone will offset the cost paid many times over.”
The GISRoam client application is FREE, but to load shapefile data onto or save changes off the iPad and iPhone, one must purchase an account to Webconnect™ in the GISRoam application. The $19.95 webconnect lets you share and synchronize all the shapefile layers between your iPad/iPhone(s) and any desktop computer using WiFi or 3G networks.
Look for enhanced versions of GISRoam with enhanced collections methods and alternative map services options in version 2.0. Also DISRoam™, the GISRoam based application with 2525B Military icon support, Shapefile based annotations, and real-time DIS entity position, state, interaction, and animation support coming July 2010.
