With GIS mapping of all properties complete, the BBMP will soon send notices to those who filed wrong returns. With over 2 lakh applications submitted, property tax collection in Bangalore has crossed over Rs 100 crore. “This time, verification of details is more authentic as it’s updated with the latest technology. We have done it to get all property owners in the city under the tax bracket and track defaulters with greater accuracy,” U A Vasanth Rao, DC, resources, said.
Despite staff shortage, BBMP has 200 people in the field survey to confirm details captured through mapping. Currently, second round of survey is on, which will be followed by verification, he said.
“Help centres will only focus on collection. They will only confirm Part 1 of the form filled alongside the name and contact details of the taxpayer on the back of the submitted cheque. The software will take care of errors in computation,” he explained.
